Why a diagnostic assessment may be required?

  • A child/young person is experiencing difficulties with their learning. This could be with reading, writing and spelling and/or memory and organisation. This assessment can help a child/young person, parent or carer to understand why they have particular strengths and weaknesses in certain areas and what can be done to improve their learning and develop strategies to retain and record their knowledge.

  • A child/young person requires a diagnostic report as evidence for exam access arrangements. With regards JCQ regulations, it is important to find out information from school/college to demonstrate an individual's normal way of working so that any recommendations for support in exams can be reflected in this way.

  • A child/young person already receives support with learning or requires an up to date assessment with the aim of getting a better understanding of their difficulties and how to develop new strategies.

  • Students require a diagnostic report to qualify for  funded support at University (DSA)
